چکیده
This tutorial starts by introducing semi-structured Web data and Semantic Web data in particular, together with a characterization of the trust issues that are related to their use. Then, the core ideas about the assessment of the trustworthiness of semi-structured Web data are presented. First, the use of uncertainty reasoning for assessing trust in these data is presented, motivated and described in its advantages and limitations. This will be accompanied by real-life examples. Second, provenance will be introduced, together with an excursus about the PROV ontology. Different examples of the use of provenance as a basis for trust estimation are discussed, and examples from the media and the cultural heritage domains are presented. Third, different kinds of semantic similarity measures are explained, and their usefulness for computing trust estimations is shown. Lastly, the combination of the techniques mentioned above is discussed, and some practical examples are shown in a conclusive hands-on sessions. This tutorial is based on the doctoral thesis of the presenter. Related materials are available at http://trustingwebdata.org/ifiptm14/index.html
